Relief for Jaw Pain, Headaches, and Tension That Won’t Quit

If you’re waking up with jaw pain, struggling to chew without discomfort, or dealing with frequent headaches and facial tension, your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) might be the culprit. At Breathe In Motion, we offer TMJ physical therapy that addresses TMJ dysfunction with a root-cause, full-body approach, providing long-term relief—not just a quick fix.

What is TMJ Dysfunction?

TMJ dysfunction (sometimes called TMD) refers to problems with the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. It can cause pain, tightness, clicking or popping, limited jaw movement, and even neck and ear discomfort.

Common symptoms we treat include:

  • Jaw pain or tightness (especially in the morning or after eating)
  • Popping, clicking, or grinding in the jaw
  • Difficulty opening the mouth fully
  • Headaches and facial tension
  • Ear pain or pressure
  • Neck and upper shoulder stiffness
  • Teeth clenching or grinding (bruxism)
  • Post-dental procedure jaw issues

Our Approach to TMJ Treatment

We treat TMJ dysfunction the same way we treat everything else: one-on-one, personalized, and hands-on.

Your care may include:

  • Manual therapy to the jaw, neck, and surrounding tissues
  • Intraoral release techniques (inside the mouth, with gloves) to relieve tight jaw muscles
  • Postural retraining and movement education
  • Neck, jaw, and upper back mobility work
  • Stress-reducing techniques to help limit clenching and tension
  • Custom home exercises to keep symptoms from returning

You’ll work with a Doctor of Physical Therapy trained in TMJ care who understands how your jaw is connected to the rest of your body—and your daily life.

Who Can Benefit from TMJ Physical Therapy?

Our TMJ treatment is ideal for:

  • Individuals with chronic jaw pain or clicking
  • Those with headaches or facial tension
  • Teeth grinders/clenchers looking for relief beyond a mouthguard
  • People recovering from dental work or jaw trauma
  • Athletes, performers, and professionals who rely on their voice and jaw movement daily
  • Anyone tired of just being told to “relax your jaw”

This place is an absolutely amazing place to get Physical Therapy. I have been to many different medical facilities, and nothing has compared to the treatment that I get here. At first it may seem like a lot with the cost, but they will work with you, and it will be worth it in the end. I have done only 4/5 sessions so far and we have gotten more done than doing twenty sessions under insurance at a hospital system. The ladies that treat you here are super nice and understanding.

Molly is incredibly knowledgeable! I saw her for pelvic floor health for my second pregnancy. She asked questions I haven’t been asked before and did a thorough evaluation to try and get to the root cause of ailments I had with my first pregnancy. She exudes passion for what she does and stressed the importance of prevention. She never made me feel silly for asking questions and explained what and why she was doing in a way I could understand. I would absolutely recommend Molly and Breathe in Motion to any pregnant and postpartum mamas!

AD

I’m a mom of two young and very active little ones. I had on and off low back pain since my last pregnancy and everyday life with my kids was becoming more painful and frustrating. I started therapy with Molly and was so impressed with her kind and compassionate demeanor, her knowledge, the quality of and her practice based on treating the whole person, listening to needs and helping achieve goals. I am back to chasing my kids and being active without pain! Molly is absolutely wonderful! So grateful.
